Do you struggle to take control of your negative thoughts and emotions? We all feel sad, angry, guilty, scared and overwhelmed at times. It’s all part of being a human on planet earth. But when these niggling feelings won’t go away we feel bad and out of control. So what do you do?
Well, the first thing to know is that you can stop it. Whilst this is challenging at times it’s important to know that our thoughts cause our feelings. So once you are aware of the thought you are having, you can simply choose a better feeling thought.
It all starts with a good dose of self-love! This is a foreign concept to a lot of us girls. We’re great at putting others first and helping out if it involves someone else. While this is a wonderful attribute to have, it can be self-destructive if you don’t keep a handle on it. There’s a reason the airline staff always instruct us to put our own oxygen mask on before assisting anyone else. That includes before helping your kids! Why?
Well, you know the answer; if you pass out you’re no good to anybody! So it’s time for some ‘me’ time and time to stop that annoying, berating voice in your head that is telling you that you’re tired, small, not good enough, unlovable and unworthy. You can stop being mad at yourself and with the rest of the world.
You can say: “I won’t do it any more”, “I won’t behave this way any more”, “I can learn to change and behave differently”, “I can learn to love myself”. Did you know that your subconscious mind (the one running the whole show) is like a small child, so recall the things you say to yourself and now imagine saying them to a three-year-old! I can hear you say, “Oh, I wouldn’t do that!”, but that is exactly what you are doing and then expecting yourself to feel and perform better. Crazy, right? You are all you have. You may have forgotten this, but you are a gift! Therefore, decide to make yourself the most vibrant, beautiful, wonderful, tender, loving and fantastic person in the world. Your life will change for the better - and you will always survive.
It’s a crazy thing, but for many people it can be the one thing that stops them from doing what they love: fear of failure; fear of being not good enough. So it is time to hear this truth: it’s okay to make mistakes. It’s okay to fail. It’s okay to fall down. There is no shame in these things. Did you know our greatest failures often become our greatest blessings? Fear no more. Do what you love and learn to fly. Don’t know where to start?
